The head of the local Sani Abacha hospital, doctor Garba Fika, said six bodies and 32 injured had arrived there, with one person dying after being admitted. The Damaturu bus station has been repeatedly targeted in a string of previous suicide attacks. “I was in the station when I saw the young girl arrive,” said bus driver Musbahu Lawan. “I think she noticed the guards checking people at the gates and she decided to detonate the explosives in the middle of the crowd outside the gates.” Nguru added: “The road leading to the gates is always full of small traders … I was lucky not to have been hit.” No claim of responsibility for the attack has been made but Islamist group Boko Haram has frequently used young girls to carry out suicide attacks. Meanwhile, Boko Haram recaptured the strategic town of Marte in northeastern Nigeria’s restive Borno state, a regional official said early on Saturday. “It is sad as we have been made to understand that Marte has today completely fallen under the control of the insurgents, which to us is a very huge setback,” said Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, vice governor of the Borno state. The town, located along a strategic trading route between Nigeria and neighbouring Cameroon and Chad, has traded hands between the jihadists and government troops numerous times since 2013. Advertisement A regional military coalition of Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon has claimed a series of major victories against Boko Haram since launching sweeping offensives against the terrorist group in February. But the jihadists, who recently pledged allegiance to the Islamic State extremists who have captured swaths of Iraq and Syria, have been pushing back, killing at least 55 people in two raids on villages near Maiduguri – the first assault on the northern city in three months. “Even if 90% of our communities have been liberated, the war is not yet over,” Mustapha cautioned early on Saturday. Boko Haram’s six-year insurgency has claimed some 15,000 lives and displaced 1.5 million people.

Asisat Oshoala hopes to conquer Canada again

The Super Falcons striker will return to the country where she was voted best player in the U20 World Cup in 2014 with plans to do well with the senior side

May 14, 2015 13:47:43

Nigeria senior women striker Asisat Oshoala is keen to re-enact the form which saw her win two individual accolades in Canada during the Fifa Women's World Cup next month.

Oshoala burst onto the world stage with her performance at the 2014 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup where she won the golden boot and golden ball for being highest scorer and best player respectively.

She will return to Canada next month with the senior women and hopes to confirm her billing among the best female footballers on the continent.

"I am not under any pressure because that was a junior competition and this is a senior competition," Oshoala told thenff.com.

"Definitely, it is a different ball game but what I will say is that I will go to Canada again and give my best and prove that I am a good player and that what happened in 2014 was not a fluke. I have to make sure I give the fans a lot of reason to smile in Nigeria

"Winning the MVP and highest goal scorer award at the forthcoming World Cup are secondary achievements but the primary aim is to go there and get the trophy. That is the primary thing so whatever comes after that is the secondary achievement," she concluded.

In seven appearances at the Women's World Cup, Nigeria have only gotten past the group stage once.

They would hope that Oshoala is in top form to help them reach unprecedented heights when the tournament kicks off in June.

AMAZING HEALTH BENEFITS OF MANGOES

Mangoes taste so good that people forget they are also healthy. Mango fruit is one of the most popular, nutritionally rich fruits with unique flavor, fragrance, taste, and heath promoting qualities, making it numero-uno among new functional foods, often labeled as "super fruits." Mango is one of the delicious seasonal fruits grown in the tropics. The tree is believed to be originating in the sub-Himalayan plains of Indian subcontinent. Botanically, this exotic fruit belongs within the family of Anacardiaceae, a family that also includes numerous species of tropical-fruiting trees.

Some facts about Mango;

According to some, more mangoes are eaten fresh than any other fruit in the world.Originated 4,000 plus years ago.Biologically a close relative with other flowering plants like cashew and pistachio.Originated in sub-Himalayan plains.InIndia where they are most heavily grown and eaten, mangoes are known as "safeda."There are over 1,000 different varieties of mangoes.

The health benefits of mango include;

Prevents Cancer:

Eye Health:

One cup of sliced mangoes supplies 25% of the needed daily value of vitamin A, which promotes good eyesight and prevents night blindness and dry eyes.
