Messi Tells Teammates To Be Wary Of Tevez

The champions league final between Juventus and Barcelona is a match of the trebles, as both teams are one trophy away from completing a season treble.

Juventus are yet to win a treble, but if Barcelona overcomes Athletic Bilbao on Saturday in the Copa del Rey, they'll be on their way to repeating their 2009 triumph.

Though the Catalans are favourites for the trophy, Messi has said his team can't be caught sleeping and has advised his teammates to be wary of his countryman, Tevez.

"We will face a very tough opponent," he told Sport Premium. "Juventus are physically strong and have great players like Tevez.

"It's a final and anything can happen, but we are preparing for the game as we would normally do."

Tevez: To Beat Barcelona, Juventus Need Be Extraordinary

Tevez believes Barcelona have the best attackers in the world and is wary of how lethal they can be.

The Italian champions face Barcelona in the UCL final come June 6. Barcelona's attacking force of Messi, Suarez and Neymar have over 100 goals between them and this has promoted Tevez to say that Juventus need be more than perfect to overcome the Catalans.

The forward told SportMediaset: "I think they are the best team in the world. They have the three best strikers, so we'll have to work hard to give a performance which is more than perfect."

I Belong To Everybody And I Belong To Nobody’ – Read President Buhari’s Inaugural Speech

Following a successful hand over and swearing in ceremony at the Eagle Square Abuja on Friday, May 29, 2015 the new president of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari was summoned to deliver an inaugural speech.

In his speech, the new president made a couple of promises of what his government intends to do for the general progress of the nation.

He also thanked the former President Goodluck Jonathan for his sportsmanship by conceding defeat before the final results of the general elections were called by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He said, "I will like to thank President Goodluck Jonathan for setting an example that Nigerians are proud of."

Additionally, he said, "I belong to everyone and I belong to nobody."

He further reinstated the resolve of the government to do it's best to tackle the insurgency meted out by the Boko Haram Islamist extremists.

"Boko Haram is a mindless and Godless group who are as far away from Islam as one can think.

"Daunting as the task may be, it is not insurmountable," he added.

Prominent among his other promises are, "We will guard against every form of human right violation.

"Gross corruption even at the Local Government level shall be checked.

"Boko Haram is not the only security threat we are confronted with. Armed robbery and kidnapping will also be tackled.
"We will do all it takes to rescue our Chibok Girls and to rescue them alive.

"As ever, I am ready to listen to the grievances of Nigerians."

Fear Of Buhari? Governor, Minister And PDP Chieftain Flee Nigeria On Democracy Day

Reports just reaching us indicate that a governor, minister and a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain have left the shores of Nigeria on a British Airways flight in a move to avoid being probed by the incoming president, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a report published by Sahara Reporters, Olusegun Olutoyin Aganga, the current minister of industry, trade and investment, Tony Anenih, a PDP chieftain, and the governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam, departed Nigeria in a flight out of Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The three were last seen boarding the BA flight scheduled for an 8am departure to London.

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam

According to the report, Suswam's wife, Yemisi, also left yesterday to Houston in the US to avoid getting caught up in the sweep.

It was also learned that more party officials, ministers, several appointees and aides to President Goodluck Jonathan have either fled or are planning to flee the country in a move to avoid being probed by the incoming president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Last week, the minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke travelled on the same flight with Buhari to London but efforts by the minister to start a conversation with the incoming president were rebuffed.

I’m Not Afraid Of Buhari – Madam Okonjo Iweala boast

Minister of Finance, Ngozi Onkojo-Iweala, has boasted that she is not scared of President Muhammadu Buhari if he decides to probe her activities in the government of Goodluck Jonathan.

She said: "There is no substance in the wild allegations that any money is missing from the account or that finances of the country under Okonjo-Iweala's watch have not been well managed."

The minister added that she "has no reason to fear Buhari.

Those who cannot adequately explain what they did with the resources of their states and are begging for bailout are those who should to be scared."

She stated this in a statement while responding to revelations made by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

She denied claims by Oshiomhole that she has been speaking out lately because of the 'fear of Buhari'.

According to her, "if there is any minister whose voice has been strong on the right issues over the past four years, it is Okonjo-Iweala."

She however forgot to say that she has been claiming that our economy was very ok, when in fact it's not

A New Nigeria Is Possible Beginning Today By Bola Tinubu

Democracy Day statement by National leader Bola Tinubu.

May 29, 2015, shall be recorded in our history as the moment when democracy finally was allowed to participate in Democracy Day.

The reason for this is the legion of average Nigerians who voted to make this happen. Should any of you wish to see a true hero of democracy, don't fret. Just look in the nearest mirror.

The celebrations prior to this were false showings; they were the commemoration of wrong.

The path we have taken to come to this august moment has not been one of easy victory or swift progress.

Instead, it has been a path hewed by the triumph of resilience over broken promises and fraudulent avowals of representative governance.

Reaching this fine moment has been a story told in the cadence of the victory of common good over arrogant power.

The voice of the solitary poor man, no one hears.

But the votes of the poor became a potent army capable of toppling the very citadel of high privilege in order to bring forth national awakening no less historic and important than the very birth of this nation.

On this day, we shall witness the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari, a great, honorable and dedicated public servant as our president. This is indeed an inspiring moment, a turning point in our national direction, and the reclamation of our best destiny.

We shall celebrate this achievement but not in mindless, care-free fashion. The road ahead is still choked with the debris of problems left too long unattended.

We are well aware of the challenges pitted against our wellbeing. Insecurity, economic decline and corruption, we must fight and fight as if we are going to war not a carnival.

Most of all, we must fight the temptation of hopelessness, the sense that little good will come out of even the greatest efforts.

This is where I want to thank and commend all those who voted in the past election.

It is you who turned this day into the true celebration of true democracy it was intended to be.

With no guarantee save your faith and armed solely with the hope and promise of a better tomorrow through better governance, you fought the mounting tide of power and money.

That tide tried to induce you to sell your democratic rights and your chance for a greater future on the cheap.

In the eyes of those who were self-exalted, you had been debased and brought low by visible circumstance of poverty and lack. You seemed to them ripe for purchase.

Yet, inside, you retained a greatness of character and a loyalty to the democratic ideal incomprehensible to those who believed that everything can be purchased.

You showed them that your self-definition as human beings and as Nigerians was not for sale or tender.

As a result, he who had been given so much, so easily by so many was humbled.

You who have been ridiculed, reduced and written off were lifted up. The will of the people hath reclaimed its sovereignty.

This has been a blossoming of justice and the illumination of the power of human decency.

So often, Nigeria has been portrayed negatively before the world. Not this time.

The world is proud of what you have done and how you have advanced the cause of fairness and right.

What you have done has lent solace to those still struggling to establish democracy and responsive governance in their homelands.

They now see Nigeria as an inspiring example. They seek to be like you, to travel the road you just trod.

Today, the old Nigeria is no longer in chains as we move into a new era and take hold of our new selves.

From President Buhari to the state governors inaugurated this day, I wish them well and pray they govern in an open, democratic way that assures your optimal wellbeing.

I ask that you, the people, maintain your diligence and help guide those you have just elected.

The issues that confront us are deep and complex. They are not susceptible to facile solution or inattention. Wise and sound policy is within our capacity.

But, we must have the will to accomplish it. If both the governed and government work in league, there is nothing our beloved nation cannot overcome.

Let it be said that on this day, the nation consecrate itself to the ideal that governance is the sacred instrument of the people and never again shall it be the exclusive recreation of a select few.

No longer shall Democracy day be a shallow ritual. Henceforth, it is a living truth.

All Universities Established By Jonathan Are Illegal – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has described as illegal all the 16 universities and other higher institutions established by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying they lack the necessary legal backing and so may be living on borrowed time.

This remark was made by the union's National President, Dr. Issa Fagge Nasir, while commenting on the recent conversion of four colleges of education to universities by the Federal Executive Council, FEC. Nasir, in an exclusive interview with New Telegraph, described the conversion as an assault on the Acts establishing the colleges, adding that universities are not only established via executive fiats but through thorough consultations with stakeholders and deep understudy of the pros and cons of such decisions.

He said, "Our quarrel with the government is that universities are not just established by executive fiats like this administration is doing.

So the Federal Government is only compounding the problems already bedeviling the education sector and I wonder if the incoming administration will allow this to stand.

"Strictly speaking, the Federal Government is not respecting its own laws, and I wonder how you just transmute an institution without looking at its laws.

What happens to its staff, facilities and infrastructure?" The ASUU president also queried the release of N500 million each to the four new universities as take-off grant, saying the money alone cannot be enough for staff training not to talk of infrastructural upgrade.

He said academic institutions like universities are the bedrock for national development and so are not run without defined mandate and vision, and that using them to achieve political gains will only further compound the nation's problems.

He, therefore, called on the incoming administration to critically assess these decisions and make impartial judgment that will benefit the mass of the people and return the country's education sector's lost glory.
