Ministerial List: I Am Disappointed With The List, Says Balarabe Musa

Former Kaduna state governor, Balarabe Musa, has expressed his disappointment over the ministerial list President Buhari sent to the senate for screening. According to Musa, the names on the list are the same old names “Why did it take the President four months to come up with these names? I believe this is the question that many informed Nigerians should ask. These are the same old names, ordinary Nigerians who the President knows and he must have even met them several times. So, what is particular about them that he wasted so much time in appointing them ministers. But there are about two or three who I can say are distinguished among them like, Audu Ogbeh who I have known for a very long time. We were together during the Second Republic. He was a minister while I was governor then. Audu Ogbeh has an outstanding public record that everybody knows.”he told journalists

If We Devalue Naira Again, We Will Kill Nigerians – CBN Governor

The Central Bank governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has defended his decision not to further devalue the naira despite the pressure on the currency of Africa’s top oil producer amid the global price crash. Godwin Emefiele is also under pressure from foreign investors and Nigerian manufacturers, who say his policies are worsening the oil-dependent country’s economic woes. But the governor, on Monday, maintained that the naira was ‘appropriately priced,’ telling the Financial Times Africa Summit he would not allow a policy of ‘interminable adjustment’ as this would only cause more pain for Nigeria’s 170 million people. The naira lost more than 20 per cent of its value between the start of the oil price fall in July 2014 and February, the last time the Central Bank allowed the currency to depreciate. Since then, Emefiele has introduced a range of currency controls — doing everything but adjusting the currency to defend its value. The result has been an effective freezing of the country’s foreign exchange market. The lack of liquidity — the ability to move hard currency in and out of the country — was one reason JP Morgan removed Nigeria from its influential emerging markets bond index last month. President Muhammadu Buhari, who was inaugurated in May, has not yet appointed a cabinet or defined an economic policy to guide the country through the crisis sparked by the oil price crash. This has frustrated investors who strongly disagree with the monetary policies enacted by Emefiele and argue that in the absence of a fiscal policy, the central bank governor is straying beyond his mandate and intervening in manufacturing policy.

Jonathan Is The Reason We Can’t Give School Kids Free Meal Or Pay N5,000 Monthly – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC has blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan for the party's inability to fulfill its campaign promises.

In a Sunday statement issued by APC National Publicity secretary, the party said if Jonathan had not looted funds, it would have been able to do more than basically fulfilling its campaign promise.

"They say we are yet to fulfil our campaign promises to Nigeria, but they have forgotten that if only the PDP/Jonathan Administration had not stolen Nigeria blind, there would have been more than enough money to give school children in Nigeria not just one but three meals a day and even pay 5,000 Naira to 50 million most vulnerable Nigerians, not just the 25 million we promised in our manifesto," APC said.
